World Records. We all love ’em. And so of course there are people out there pursuing casino-related records. What a wonderful world!

Casino is a word with Italian origins, and basically means “little house.” It’s no surprise, since the first gambling house was located in Italy and was known as the Il Ridottto, which means “the private room” in Italian. At the time, the government was looking for a way into more controlled gambling, and so first legal and public casino was born.

Here are some more incredible world records from the world of casinos.

The Most Casinos Visited in a Lifetime

According to Guinness World Records, the record for the most casinos visited goes to a man called Edwin Wheeler, who has visited a total of 358 different casinos during 1955 to 2002. The record also notes that he’s made visits to some casinos more than once, bringing his documented total for the record to 372 – though we’d guess that he’s made a few more casino visits since 2002!

If you’re inspired to try to duplicate this record using online casinos, you can find a goodly listing of online casinos at Spot On Casinos, a website that specializes in reviews of online casinos.

The Smallest Travelling Casino

Considering the origins of the word, you’d think casinos are a little smaller – but when it comes to Vegas or Macau, bigger is generally better. But that’s not always the case. According to an article published in G3 NewsWire, the UK gambling operator Grosvenor launched the world’s smallest travelling casino for a brief period in 2016 – and people could win a chance to gamble in this landmark casino at the time.

The Most Casinos in 24 Hours

While Edwin Wheeler might have made his record-breaking casino stops over a period of several years, Kimo Ah Yun and Gary Meyer from the United States managed to cram all of their visits into a 24 hour period between the 22nd and 23rd of October, 2015. They managed to visit an incredible 69 casinos during this time – and was doing it as a birthday event for Kimo.

Of course, this event took place in Vegas – where you don’t have to travel very far to find your next stop.

The Most Casino Chips Shuffled in a Single Stack

According to Guinness World Records, the record for the most casino chips ever shuffled into one, single stack goes to Saar Kessel – that’ll be 20 of them, for the record. How does one even notice you’re good at this in the first place?

Well, you should know that Saar Kessel has pretty fast hands and a love for breaking records. Saar Kessel also holds the record for “Most poker chips balanced on one finger” (100) and “Most cups balanced on the forehead.”

And while we’re on the subject of poker chips –

The largest collection of casino chips and tokens

The largest collection of casino chips and tokens belongs to Bruce and Sue Wunder (both USA), with a total of 554 casino chips and tokens from 554 different casinos, as of 14 May 2009, which they have been collecting since 2000. The collection consists of 449 casino chips and 105 slot tokens. I think this would be a pretty cool collection and fun to build. If you’re interested in starting your own casino chip collection you might want to connect with James Campiglia who calls himself the undisputed King of Casino Chips. The Largest Casino – Arguably, Apparently

Source: National Geographic

According to World Atlas and National Geographic, the Venetian Macau (sometimes spelled as Macao) is one of the the largest casinos in the world at 546, 000 square feet – and that should be the end of it.

But it appears that this record isn’t that simple. Slightly larger, said to encompass 600, 000 square feet instead, is the WinStar World Casino and Resort, who claims to be the biggest casino in the world instead.
