Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Playing Cards Set Review

Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Playing Cards Set Review

Since its launch in 1988, Final Fantasy has become one of the most successful video game franchises of all time. The series is still going strong, and a recent remake of arguably the most popular game in the franchise, Final Fantasy VII achieved record sales. However, one of the most in-demand pieces of memorabilia comes from 2012 and is a deck of playing cards celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the game.

About the Deck

Created by Square Enix, the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Playing Cards deck features a full 52-card deck plus jokers. Each card has been designed to represent a character, event, or item from the first thirteen Final Fantasy video games. Avid fans of the series will recognise each character depicted, although the younger crowd may only spot the more recent entries in the franchise. Either way, there is something for every fan of the series. Unlike trading cards, this deck can be used to play a conventional card game.

The Cards Themselves

Each suite has a specific theme attached to it. The spades, for instance, are decorated with the title logos from each game. Hearts feature hand-drawn images of the main character in each release, including FFVII’s Cloud, FFXII’s Vaan, and Final Fantasy Thirteen’s Lightning. Over in the club’s suit, you have summoners, aeons, and other characters, including Yuna, Cecil, and Odin, while diamonds represent the different sprites and schools from the series. Expect to see black and red mages, thieves, warrior monks and more here.

Buying Your Deck

The Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Playing Cards deck will set you back at least $70 (or thereabouts) not including shipping. Moreover, it can only be ordered from Japan, so sites such as Amazon can come in handy for this. Collectors need not worry about regional differences, as the cards feature the same, universal collection of card values as other playing cards. For an avid fan of the Final Fantasy series and a collector of memorabilia, this could be a must-have item.

How to Use Your Final Fantasy Anniversary Cards

After acquiring your exclusive deck of Final Fantasy Anniversary cards, why not try your hand at gambling games such as blackjack, baccarat, and poker? Training on your own with a single deck can help you hone your skills. After that, you may even be ready to start tackling real money casino games. Head to the casino comparison site, Team Gamblers to gain insider knowledge about where and what to play.

Alternatively, if you are a collector, you will likely not want to play around with your cards, too much. Collectables such as these lose value once opened, and any bumps, scratches and scrapes they take will further decrease their value.

Ultimately, it is up to you what you do with your cards, but for a fan of the Final Fantasy series in general, snapping up a deck while they are still available is something you might want to consider.
